As you may have noticed, I have been going on a little bit of a poll kick as we near the playoffs. Considering we have completed over three quarters of the season now, I thought it would be best to start whittling down the key performers of the season and t…
SamPWoo.com – Interesting game. The Devils never trailed. But after the third time of not maintaining the lead, they took over the game. It maybe too early to start chanting “Golf in April” for the visitors, but sure seem like they are heading that way.
I applauded Henrik Lundqvist before the game. For the first time, I saw him take off his goalie helmet and stood for the national anthem. I was…
Tonight’s game against the Rangers takes on a much bigger magnitude. The slumping Devils face their rivals and they need to get back on track – soon.
Patrik Elias back at center in between Ilya Kovalchuk and Jamie Langenbrunner. Should be interesting but I really think Elias can be a difference maker. He is unselfish enough to generate enough chances for Kovalchuk and that needs to happen no…
Who is Your Cup Favorite?
With approximately 15 games remaining in the NHL’s regular season, there doesn’t seem to be a better time than right now to find out who YOU think has the best chance of winning the Stanley Cup?
Here is a set of 3 polls, based on the 3 brackets of current contenders(based on current point standings and pre-season odds):

The hot topic right now for the Tampa Bay Lightning might be Steven Stamkos, thanks to the hot hand that has him on pace for a 51-goal sophomore season.
The impact of Steve Downie as a well-rounded force, offensively, physically and otherwise, might be the surprise story of their season.
And a reinvigorated Vincent Lecavalier down the stretch, sparked by the under-the-radar arrival of Teddy…
OK, it is time for this Devils team to get it together. I am not complaining, I am demanding! Devils fans have gotten much demanding over the last few years and last year’s playoff exit still leaves a bad taste in our mouths.
The point is – This team is better than that!
A win against the elite Sharks then a reality check against a hard working Oilers. Both ends of the spectrum for this Dev…
So, the Jeff Vinik era as owner of the Tampa Bay Lightning got off to an 0-1 start with Thursdayâs loss to Washington.
So what?
The Caps are, well, the Caps. And, though there was certainly some sloppiness, the Lightning hung tight in that game, battling back from several deficits and showing some real character throughout.
A timely save or two down the stretch would have aided the cau…
18 teams were in action on Thursday night in the National Hockey League. Home teams finished with a sparkling 7-1-1 record, with the Stars suffering the only loss in regulation among the nine hosts.

We can even talk about last night’s 7-2 thumping the Lightning received from Philly, if we must. (Hey, at least we got another double dose of “Hammer Time”!

Blue Jackets blew another game when they had the lead going into the 3rd period. Grant Clitsome had 2 assists for the Blue Jackets in his NHL debut but the other assist he gave to the Canucks that allowed them to tie up the game will be hard to forget.
All in all, both teams played like garbage and it was very sloppy. It’s what you expect after a 2 week break and several players wondering…
Join me at your leisure on deadline day here.
I’ll be in and out throughout the day, passing along whatever word I get on any potential or actual Lightning moves and my usual snide commentary on whatever else is going on tomorrow.
We’ll have plenty to discuss, I’m sure.
Stay tuned.

I hope you all like my Lamoriello blog picture. I had not used it this season so far. All eyes will be on Uncle Lou as the Trade Deadline Approaches.
What Would Lou Do? That is the question. Can he bring the Devils an extra Defenseman?
Time will tell.

As the trade deadline quickly approaches, anticipation of possible trades heat up and rumors swirl on every internet site that even remotely covers hockey. Now the question is will the trade deadline live up to the hype like the Winter Olympics did? I doubt it as the big boys have already been traded and there are few big names that will be changing addresses.
Since I cover the Blue Jacket…
Before I open up the mailbag for the first time in a long time, Iâll answer a question that Iâve received from a handful of people in the last couple of days:
âWhere did BoltsBuzz Radio go so quickly?â
The answer is simple. Nowhere. We scheduled to take Monday the 22nd off, figuring most listeners would be in Olympic mode, most potential guests scattered about and hard to reach and,…
American New Jersey Devil Zach Parise was named to the Olympic Tournament’s All-Star Team which was announced yesterday.

Not a bad showing for the US with three seletions, yet another sign US is on the global hockey map.

USA and Canada for the gold!
Many stories and subplots (please lets not talk about Miracle on Ice anymore!).
Russia, not USA, was the heavy hitter until they laid a goose egg against Canada. Or should I say, Canada stunned them!
Both teams coming off nice wins so confidence is flying high. The first US/Canada game was extremely high-tempo for 60 minutes. I expect the same.
Ryan Miller…
I have been surfing the net and have compiled a few names from many different sources and sites that have been mentioned linked to Uncle Lou and the Devils.
Ill toss out speculated, and I emphasize “speculated”, names that have surfaced being of interest to the Devils;
Matt Cullen
Matt Stajan
Alex Ponikarovski
Scott Niedermayer
Saku Koivu
Mike Modano
Dan Hamhuis
Sheldon Souray

Thereâs really only one certainty we can take out of the coaching changes made yesterday by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
OK Hockey â dubbed a circus by so many â may be out as an ownership group but, clearly, the show must go on.
What about replacing assistant coach Wes Walz with Norfolk head coach Jim Johnson makes sense at this point in the season, at any level?
With 21 games left fo…
Yes, Ryan Miller has been spectacular in net for the US.
Not far behind is Devils’ Zach Parise who netted two today for the Americans against Mark Streit and the Swiss.
Zach and fellow Jamie Langenbrunner have been arguably part of the most consistent line for the US.
Good to see American Devils making a contribution.
Canada/Russia tonight. The game everyone was waiting for – just ear…
